Whatever the purpose of your paper, it must be written so that other experts can assess your observations, repeat your experiments and evaluate your thinking. A group of your peers will judge whether your paper meets their standards. You are competing with hundreds, possibly thousands, of others who want their papers published in the same journal. Publishers insist that papers are short and make minimal use of tables, graphs and illustrations or other materials that might increase the cost of publication.
